What is fibromyalgia?
FMS – Fibromyalgia (fi-bro-my-Al-juh) Syndrome is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the fibrous tissues in the body. The pain comes from the connective tissues, such as the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. FMS does not involve the joints, as does rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Most patients with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with fibromyalgia, but it shows up in people of all ages (FMA UK).
The effects of fibromyalgia pain
If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome, you know that the pain and fatigue are real, and sometimes unbearable. You know that fibromyalgia symptoms affect every aspect of your life from the type and amount of work you can do to the friendships you make and the type of wife and mother you are. You know that your life before and after Fibromyalgia look completely different. You have probably tried countless FMS medications, therapies and treatments. Alone and misunderstood, you have become overwhelmed, exhausted, and discouraged.
So have I.
I know the deep, personal pain of fibromyalgia. I see the unseen agony. I have struggled with the same insecurities, frustrations, guilt, and anger that you have felt. I have experienced the extreme lows, lack of sleep, and untreatable pain and brain fog. I have tried numerous treatments, drugs and therapies. I have lost and gained weight. I have felt completely out of control at times.
But we are never out of control.
What does fibromyalgia support coaching look like?
As your fibromyalgia life coach, I walk beside you with a very real and personal knowledge of what it means to live with fibromyalgia. While I don’t promise to have a cure or make your pain go away, I do promise to use Christian counseling foundations to listen, encourage and help you through this often tremendous and unfair illness. I will help you set realistic healthy living goals and give you the tools to achieve them. I will introduce you to fibromyalgia groups in your area, when available, so you will no longer feel alone in your pain. I will encourage you, listen to you and pray for you. You can be a woman that delights in delighting God, right where you are, and I will help you get there!
“This is the time and place to rest, to give rest to the weary. This is the place to lay down your burden.” – Isaiah 28:11
